What to expect during the egg retrieval process
The majority of infertility treatment methods such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, and egg donation, involve the egg retrieval process. To induce the final maturation of the eggs, the doctors at Kiran Infertility Centre – Bengaluru will inject the patient with an injection of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) around 36 hours before the egg retrieval.
The most common approach for egg retrieval is ultrasound-guided egg aspiration.
A small needle is attached to a guide that will be inserted through the vaginal wall by the doctor. After the doctor has visualized the ovary, he or she will puncture each follicle with the needle and gently aspirate the fluid containing the egg into a collecting tube.
